Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our handmade leather bags, shipping, returns, and leather care.

- Leather Quality & Materials

+ What is full-grain leather, and why is it better?

Full-grain leather is the top layer of the hide with the natural grain left intact — never sanded or buffed. It’s the strongest, most durable grade of leather available. Unlike “genuine leather” (which is a lower grade made from processed scraps), full-grain leather ages beautifully and develops a rich patina over time.

+ How can I tell if a leather bag is real leather?

Real leather has a natural, slightly irregular texture and absorbs a small drop of water slowly. Fake leather feels plasticky, has a perfectly uniform pattern, and water beads up and rolls off. Real leather also has a distinct earthy smell — synthetic leather smells like chemicals or plastic. time.

+ Why does my new leather bag have a strong smell?

That’s normal. The scent comes from the natural tanning process and is a sign of real leather. It fades within a few days to a couple of weeks. To speed it up, leave the bag in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.

+ Will my leather bag develop patina?

Yes — and that’s a good thing. Patina is the rich, darker tone that full-grain leather develops over time with use. It makes each bag unique to its owner. The bag will look even better after a year of regular use than the day you bought it.

- Care & Maintenance

+ How do I clean my leather bag?

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth weekly to remove dust. For spots or stains, use a slightly damp cloth with a small amount of leather-specific cleaner. Never use household chemicals, vinegar, or alcohol — they strip the leather’s natural oils.

+ How often should I condition my leather bag?

Every 3–6 months, or more often if you live in a dry climate. Apply a small amount of leather conditioner with a soft cloth and let it absorb. Conditioning keeps the leather supple and prevents cracking.

+ Can my leather bag get wet? What if it gets caught in rain?

Light rain won’t ruin your bag, but leather and water aren’t best friends. If your bag gets wet, blot (don’t rub) the moisture with a soft cloth, stuff it with paper to hold its shape, and let it air-dry away from direct heat. Once dry, apply conditioner to restore the oils. Never use a hair dryer or heater — that causes cracking.
